Another week has flown by and I nearly blew my postaweek challenge. That sounds silly with all that is going on, I know. The world will not fly off its axis if I miss a week. It will however; give me that little excuse clause. “I already missed a week, why bother now.” I refuse to give up this early in the year. No excuses allowed.
I had a lot to say during the course of the week, with the arm waving, hand gestures, and “Are you kidding me’s”. It just didn’t make it here. Too much complaining, SWEARING, and boo-hooing. Trying to stay focused and positive. Trying to take some control over my life where I can.
Part of that control includes going back to work on school bus safety and education. It was a rough week for some students and drivers. There is no need for it, and talk about no excuses. There are no excuses for the incompetence and ignorance that we face. Both off and on the roads. We have children in our care. We deal with people who are reading, texting, putting on makeup, all while they are driving. We also deal with school officials who look down on us, then place all responsibility on our shoulders.
We are already spending as much time teaching the children safety as we do driving. The problem lies in the fact that we are driving while we are teaching. It is dangerous and there needs to be a better solution.
I have dangled a carrot in front of a fellow writer/driver/educator. Hopefully tempting her to help with a safety and education program. It will be a work in process while we continue to drive, she finishes her book edits, I help her promote her book, and we continue balancing the rest of our lives.
We will be fitted for our super hero bus driver capes some time over the summer vacation. I will get pictures.
