So today is still Monday. It should be my day to talk about parents, but I just don’t have the energy. Maybe tomorrow. Tonight I will write and maybe ramble a bit about my never ending weekend.
The weekend officially starts when the whistle blows at work. At least on The Flintstones that was how it worked. So Friday evening I get home from work and instead of doing the weekend/school vacation dance I have to prepare to be back up at 4 Sat morning for an ALL DAY work day in Boston.
IT’S BOSTON MARATHON WEEKEND
So at 6:30 a.m. five of us set out on an adventure into the city. Have directions but no real idea of where we are going or what we are doing. Twelve hours later we are still driving in circles, shuttling people from one place to another. Finally at 10:30 p.m. I back the bus into my driveway and crawl into bed. Saturday is done.
You would think I might be able to sleep just a little bit Sunday, but NOOOOO. The cats won’t hear of such a thing. Four o’clock Sunday morning they want their breakfast. So I pull myself up, get them settled, and crawl back into bed for a little nap.
Not a long one mind you because I have to get to a store for ink so I can print out directions for drivers for Monday’s trip. Oh and my mother needs stuff at the store so I have to make a trip in there. See I managed to work my mother in here.
This would not be bad, except, I have to be back in bed by 6 or 7ish so I can get up at midnight. The next day is marathon day.
I did it. Was back up at midnight and at 2:30 this morning 12 of us pulled out of the bus yard on a trip back into Boston to shuttle runners to the starting line.
When we pulled back into the bus yard at 10:30 this morning we were hot and exhausted. An ice cold beer sounded perfect, but it was still a bit early so we settled for coffee and breakfast.
I did manage a little nap during the day, but at almost 8:00 p.m. I can tell you my brain is mush. Writing anything that would take thought is out of the question. I am just ramblin on hoping when I reread this tomorrow it will not sound like total jibberish.
Marathon weekend is over for another year. If I start training now I might be in better shape for next year.
