I love the peace and quiet of early mornings as much as I hate getting up to enjoy it.
At 3:45 a.m. the clock radio belts out a classic rock tune. Ugh “I should have gone to sleep earlier” always seems to be my first thought. That doesn’t last long because the music triggers a small herd of cats to come sit on my head and stare at me. My morning routine has begun.
This week has been a little different. The route I am covering starts late. I don’t have to leave the driveway until after 6:00 a.m. affording me the luxury of sitting here boring you.
Fear not. Come Monday I will undoubtedly be driving for someone else and have to be out the door long before now. There will be no time to sit and enjoy my coffee. No time to savor the tranquility of early morning. No time to babble on.
There may be however a sunrise that is simply amazing. That will make J. Geils serenading me with “Centerfold” bearable at 3:45 a.m.
