Another Year Over

As 2011 comes to an end it’s time for reflection.

Last year, at this time, I decided no resolutions.  Instead I made myself some goals to work towards.  It gave me many months to work on them and not being able to complete all did not mean instant failure.

I didn’t prepare myself for not completing any.  There were only five, BUT here I sit, December 27 and the only one I made some progress on was talking to or spending more time with my kids.  Not by much, but thanks to my ability to text now I have more contact.  Not perfect, but an improvement over no word for months at a time.

As for the other four; I lost all control when I took on more hours at work and my mother got sick.  I have not done anything to grow my pet food business, Ann’s Furry Friends.  I never even made it to level I in Reiki training and learning Italian became a passing thought on my ride to or from wherever I had to be.

The last thing I thought about was an outline for a book. I wasn’t even able to keep up with writing consistently on this blog how would I ever write an outline for a whole book?  Is that idea gone? No, but it has been pushed way to the bottom. Taking its place is a children’s story that has been floating around my head for a number of years.  I don’t think it will be any easier, but definitely more fun then school bus safety.

So as I wrap up 2011 and look forward to 2012 here is a new list of what I want to accomplish in the next 12 months.  As the year goes by I will post updates to keep me on my toes.  Come December 2012 I refuse to sit in this chair typing the same sad excuses for not accomplishing any of the following.

1. Spend more time with my kids.
2. Write my children’s story.
3. Learn Italian.
4. Learn Reiki I
5. Take some time to live and enjoy life.
6. Work on Ann’s Furry Friends business

Here’s too a healthy and productive new year.

About ramblinann

I live in Massachusetts and always have. I sell healthy holistic pet food as an independant rep with Life's Abundance. That is done mostly from home on my computer. When I'm not working for myself with the pet food, I am sitting behind the wheel of a big yellow school bus.

Since I got a phone that enabled me to text at least mediocrely (I know, that’s not a word) I’ve been able to stay in better touch with my 15yr old son. He’s home a lot, but I’m to and from work a lot and it helps. We were just gifted a pool table that a coworker wanted to get rid of, so although it takes up the ENTIRE kitchen, he loves it and we play a match every night now and that’s helped even more. I can relate to feeling like you’re not spending enough time with the kids. Good luck in 2012!

Time just seems to be flying the older I get. Once again my mother was right. A pool table in the kitchen sounds like a sure way to spend some time with your son. I am going to suggest, to my kids, a dinner and game night just once a month. Even with everyone’s crazy hours we should be able to handle one night a month.
I wish you the very best of luck in 2012.
