While I drive I do come up with some of the greatest things to write about. It really is a shame that I forget most everything before I get home.
Most often the random ramblin thoughts come because of things that are happening around me. It is a world of complete stupidity and I am witness to it every day.
This morning was no different. After dropping off my high school students I pulled up to a red light. It is a very busy intersection with one road being the on/off ramp to a major highway. At 7:15 in the morning it is in constant movement. Kids driving to school, adults driving to work, and us big yellow school buses slowing down or stopping everyone from doing what they are doing.
As I pulled up to the intersection I noticed another bus to my right sitting at green. I have met this woman driver before, at this same intersection, in the same situation. I have red she has green. Today I made sure I stayed back from the white line allowing her plenty of room to make the left turn. Believe you me there is already plenty of room, but I have witnessed this before.
So there she was at the intersection sitting on a green light with a long line of traffic behind her. She kept her eyes peeled for oncoming cars then veeerrrry slooooowly she proceeded into her left hand turn. I’m talking I could have walked through the intersection faster. I’m not sure if she is so slow because she is new or so slow because she is old. Either way she screws up the whole flow of traffic. In the past I have yelled that the pedal on the right makes the bus go, but I don’t think she heard me. This morning the man in the little white pick up behind her threw his arms in the air giving a two-handed salute. As he turned left through the intersection he was waving them all around, cussing me out like I had something to do with it. My response was to wave my arms back at him and yell “I don’t know what she’s doing” Guess being big and yellow we all look alike. I have no idea who this woman is or what company she drives for. It’s not a crime to be overly cautious so I can’t report her to anyone.
I’m sure the kids on the back of her bus got a good laugh at all the crazy adults, but what the hell. Why not make their day a little brighter when we can?
