Some Days It’s Not Worth The Effort

Have you ever needed to do something, wanted to do something, but didn’t do it for good reason?

I have wanted to cut the grass; I have needed to cut the grass so that we can bag it and use it for mulch in our new garden; but it has been so hot hot hot with no rain that I couldn’t cut it or it would burn.  My plan was to do it today after the weekend rains.  BUT…

Jim was home alone yesterday and thought he would cut it.  One problem, the battery was dead again. Twice this year the man has gone near my lawn mower and twice this year the battery died.  I seem to sense a connection. Luckily he knows how to hook it up to a charger which I do not.  I just yell at it and kick the tires.  Both of which do nothing.

This afternoon once it started to cool down a hair I decided to see if it was charged enough to get the job done.  It was; sort of . I made it around the house down one side of the driveway and back up the other before the shoot clogged.  Unclogging the shoot means shutting the thing down or possibly losing fingers all of which I am fond of.  I put  it in neutral and turned the key to off with all the confidence in the world that it would start right back up.  WRONG! Dead again.

Right after I brought the charger out into the driveway, tangled the dog up with the extension cord, hooked up the negative clippy thing to the negative thingy on the battery, the sky turned black.  Thunder started to roll in the distance and the trees bent over with the winds.  Just what I needed.

Needless to say I had to unhook everything, untangle the dog again, and put everything away. Minus the dead lawnmower which I can’t push all the way back to and up into the shed.  Some days it’s just not worth the effort.

About ramblinann

I live in Massachusetts and always have. My family continues to grow with the addition of many grandchildren, who steal my heart every time I see them. Recently I was able to check off an item on my bucket list and earn my Associate Degree in Complementary Healthcare, but usually, I can be found sitting behind the wheel of a big yellow school bus. I love to write, though there seems to be some missing connection between my thoughts and the ability of my fingers to put those thoughts on paper, or the screen in this case.
