Where did this week go? I believe it was a short work week. (Cue the duh da dun dun music)
If I remember correctly I worked last Sunday to make up for having Monday off. Then I worked a little extra on Tuesday to make up for the additional amount they are now sucking out of my paycheck each week.
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday I covered a high school route at noon because around here they schedule half days for mid-term and finals. They have buses bringing kindergarten in and home at the same time as the same buses are needed for the early release. So much fun.
Then let’s see; It has been bitter cold. I had to take Nolan out into it two days. Not fair to him though Thursday I didn’t even change him out of his nice warm jammies. Just put the fuzzy one piece snowsuit over them, strapped him into his car seat, zipped him into the fleece lined car seat cover thing, threw a blanket over the whole contraption, and lugged him to and from the bus. Well to the bus anyway, his Mumma had to meet me at a rest area to bring him home because I had to get to another high school quickly. A big fire around the corner from here had the road closed for a while. We weren’t sure if the buses could get through. I needed to get the drivers instructions just in case. Then I was off to another middle school in another town to drive the late bus. What day was this? Oh yea it was Thursday.
Friday morning as I was heading out the door I got a call from the mechanic. Because of the cold, one of the buses didn’t want to go over 15-20 mph. She still had a 45 minute ride to the school. We needed to transfer the kids to my bus so she could get them there. I had to limp her bus to the high school (the one I was at the previous day because of the fire) in time to give the drivers their paychecks. Got it covered.
Drive the early release, then cover another high school and elementary. This time we had a road closed due to a water line break. Get in touch with the drivers, get all the kids home, and take a deep breath. The work week is finally over.
